TROY, NY -- The Big Red women's hockey team completed an ECAC Hockey sweep on Saturday afternoon defeating Rensselaer, 4-1. Senior Brittany Forgues notched two goals for the Big Red while freshman Rebecca Johnston and senior Caeleigh Beerworth each added one. Cornell improves to 12-13-1 and 9-10-1 in league play, while RPI moves to 13-13-5, and 6-10-4 in conference play.  

On an RPI power play, Johnston put the Big Red on the board for the first time when she grabbed the puck from a RPI player and skated down the ice and with a backhanded shot, scored on goaltender Ashley Mayr. Johnston notched her 15^th goal of the season at 13:41 of the first period.  

With the Big Red on the power play, Beerworth increased Cornell's lead to two scoring at 15:55 of the first period on a shot from the far circle. Freshman Sam Wauer and Johnston assisted on the play.  

The Engineers got on the board for the first time at 3:33 of the second period on a goal from Julie Aho.   Midway through the second period, Beerworth grabbed the puck from the neutral zone and skated into the zone. Beerworth found Forgues who scored to regain Cornell's two goal lead.  

At 15:55 of the third period, Forgues redirected a slapshot from freshman defenseman Melanie Jue to notch her second goal of the game.  

Sophomore goaltender Jenny Niesluchowski made 29 saves in her seventh win of the season.
