Boxscore

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Big Red women's hockey team fell to St. Lawrence, 6-2, on Saturday evening at Lynah Rink. Four special team goals propelled the No. 6 ranked Saints to their 21st win of the season. Cornell's Brittany Forgues and Kelly McGinty each scored for the Big Red during Pink At The Rink weekend.

An early tripping penalty haunted Cornell from the start of the game. St. Lawrence's Sabrina Harbec took early advantage of the opportunity scoring at 1:25 of the first period.

Once again on the power play, the Saints' Alison Domenico skated fast up the ice straight to the Big Red goal and scored in the upper left side of the net to give her team a two-goal advantage.

Dominico scored her second goal of the game at 11:45 of the second period to put the Saints up 3-0.

Less than two minutes later, Cornell was on the power play when Harbec stole the puck from the Big Red and skated up ice to notch a shorthanded goal at 13:38 of the second period.

On that same powerplay, the Big Red regrouped to notch its first goal of the game. Defenseman Melanie Jue riffled a slapshot from the blueline that bounced off goaltender Meaghan Guckian's pads. Forgues found the puck in front of the net and flipped it past the Saints' netminder. Emma Chipman also assisted on the goal.

At 17:13 of the second, there was a big scramble in front of the Big Red's goal and Jenny Niesluchowski was unable to cover the puck. Marianna Locke's stick found the puck, and with a push, scored St. Lawrence's fifth goal. The Saints scored once again at 11:25 of the third period on the power play.

At 14:19 of the third period, Brianne Schmidt was fed the puck from freshman Katie Bredice in the neutral zone. Schmidt's shot rebounded behind Guckian where McGinty pushed it into the Saints' net to score the Big Red's second goal of the game.

Niesluchowski and Guckian both recorded 25 saves in net.   Cornell will hit the road Feb. 15 and 16 for its final away games of the regular season as it takes on Union and Rensselaer.
