Ranked Teams Win Twice in ECACHL Action

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Three of the ECAC Hockey League's top nationally ranked teams won both of their league games over the weekend, with Dartmouth, Harvard and Princeton each picking up four points. Colgate and Quinnipiac each split their weekend series, while Clarkson, Rensselaer and St. Lawrence all claimed non-league wins.

The Tigers, Big Green and Crimson all continue to cruise along in their league games to remain at the top of the league standings. Princeton is unbeaten in the ECACHL through nine games following its weekend sweep of Cornell and Colgate, while Dartmouth and Harvard are tied for second in the league standings after downing Brown and Yale.

Princeton started off its weekend with a 1-0 blanking of Cornell and followed it up with a 3-2 win over Colgate. Freshman Brittany Parisi earned her first collegiate shutout with the win over the Big Red, stopping 11 shots. The Orange and Black is now 8-0-1 in ECACHL play.

Harvard's Jenny Brine earned Player of the Week honors after picking up eight points while leading the Crimson to 8-1 and 5-1 victories. In Friday's win vs. Brown, she netted a natural hat trick. Christina Kessler made her collegiate goaltending debut in that game and had 22 saves.

Carli Clemis stopped 41 shots for Dartmouth, and the sophomore netminder picked up her fifth and sixth victories of the season en route to earning Goaltender of the Week honors. Senior forward Gillian Apps was the offensive leader for the Big Green, scoring two goals and adding an assist on the weekend.

Colgate's two points came in a 5-3 win over Quinnipiac, while the Bobcats earned their win over Cornell. Sam Hunt earned her first collegiate hat trick and Carly McNaughton netted the game winner for the Raiders. For Quinnipiac, nine different players had points in the win over the Big Red, including four different goal scorers. Janine Duffy's marker at 5:30 in the third held up as the winner. Clarkson and St. Lawrence both split their non-league series. The Golden Knights fell to Wayne State on Friday before rebounding with a 6-3 win Saturday. The Saints faced one of the top teams in the nation in Mercyhurst and also lost Friday night. The next day belonged to SLU, however, as the Saints captured the 3-2 win.

Brine figured in eight of Harvard's 13 goals over the weekend, including both game winners against ECACHL opponents. Four of her goals, including a natural hat trick, came against Brown.

ECACHL Goalie of the Week
CARLI CLEMIS -- Dartmouth

Clemis made a total of 41 saves over the weekend for the Big Green and picked up her fifth and sixth victories of the season.

ECACHL Rookie of the Week
WHITNEY NASLUND -- Rensselaer
Center * Fulton, N.Y.
Naslund tallied a goal and added a team-high five assists for six points in a weekend sweep of Sacred Heart.

TEAM NOTES

Brown: Of the 13 goals the Bears gave up this weekend, nine were on opposing power plays ... Both Brown goals over the weekend were on power plays. The Bears have scored six of their 13 goals with a man advantage this season ... This was the first two-game week this season in which no Brown player recorded their first career goal.

Clarkson: The Golden Knights have won three of their last four games to even out their overall record to 6-6-2 ... Freshman right wing Genevieve Lavoie has a three-game goal-scoring streak with five goals during the span ... Senior Stephanie Hansen has started the last four games in goal in relief of injured All-America goaltender Kira Hurley. Hansen has made a combined 51 saves on 57 shots in her starting role for a .895 save percentage, helping the Knights reach the .500 mark.

Colgate: Nine Raiders collected points over the weekend, with six having multiple-point games. Elin Brown had multiple-point efforts in both games and classmate Sam Hunt collected her first collegiate hat trick. It was the first time a Colgate player has had a hat trick since last season's final regular season game against Union ... Four of Colgate's seven weekend goals were PPGs, moving its power play from 11.9% to 15.5%, jumping to up five places in the national statistics.

Cornell: Cornell's freshman goaltender Jenny Niesluchowski started in net for both games on the weekend totaling 43 saves ... The Big Red held Princeton to one point on Friday night, and despite a few scoring chances in the third period was unable to tie the game ... Cornell is home this weekend vs. St. Lawrence and Quinnipiac.

Dartmouth: After dropping its first league game of the season last weekend to Colgate, the Big Green rebounded, scoring nine goals on the weekend and knocking off both Yale and Brown ... Sarah Parsons has recorded at least one point in every league game she's played in this season ... Defender Julia Bronson is tied for first in the league in points by a defender with 11. All of Bronson's points have been assists.

Harvard: Harvard has converted 34.5% of its PP chances this season, good for second nationally ... Harvard has the top three national leaders in points per game in Julie Chu, Sarah Vaillancourt and Jenny Brine ... Harvard players have registered four hat tricks through eight games of the 2006-07 season, with Vaillancourt and Brine turning in two each. The Crimson had just one hat trick in the 2005-06 season.

Princeton: Princeton's season-opening unbeaten streak reached 10 games with its sweep of Cornell and Colgate. The Tigers own the nation's second-longest such streak, behind Wisconsin, which is unbeaten in 14 (13-0-1) ... Princeton's 10-game unbeaten streak is the longest in program history, one more than the previous high of nine, which was set last season.

Quinnipiac: Quinnipiac won three ECACHL games in its inaugural season in 2005-06 and has already matched its win total through nine games (3-6-0) in 2006-07. All six GWGs have come from underclassmen ... Quinnipiac's 3.22 GPG in ECACHL contests this season is more than double its 1.35 GPG a season ago ... Quinnipiac got its seven goals this past weekend from seven different players.

Rensselaer: The Engineers head into the Thanksgiving break on a two-game winning streak . RPI returns to action Dec. 1-2 when it hosts league rivals Cornell and Colgate at the Houston Field House . Through 15 games, 17 players have tallied a point, including 14 with multiple points . With her six points over the weekend, Whitney Naslund now leads the team with 13, including a team-best 10 assists.

St. Lawrence: With a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over No. 2 Mercyhurst on Saturday, the Saints completed their most difficult stretch of regular season games with a 3-4-1 record ... SLU's quartet of sophomores has continued to shine throughout the first 14 games. Carson Duggan, Alison Domenico, Marianna Locke, and Lisa Batchelor have combined for 26 goals and 18 assists (44 points) thus far.

Union: The Dutchwomen are back on the ice after a one-week break when they host Boston University for a pair of games at Messa Rink this weekend ... Union has scored 35 goals this season, topping the total from all of last season by a goal ... With four wins, union has also matched last year's number of victories... Suzy Pocock has 11 points on the season with six goals (two PPGs and two SHGs) and five assists.

Yale: With three points this past weekend, Kristin Savard moved into No. 10 all-time at Yale in both assists (40) and points (73) ... Helen Resor has eight points in her last five games (2-6-8) ... Berit Johnson, who picked up her first career point Friday with an assist against Dartmouth, leads Yale in ± with a +6 ... Yale's four power-play goals this year have come from four different players.
