Dartmouth Keeps ECACHL Lead
ALBANY, N.Y. -- The second battle of the season between Dartmouth and Harvard in women's ECAC Hockey League action took place over the weekend and the result kept the Big Green in first place. The rivals' 1-all tie highlighted a week of league play. Colgate, Rensselaer and St. Lawrence swept their opponents and Princeton won two-out-of three, while Brown and Quinnipiac each earned a W.
On Friday at the Bright Hockey Center, the home team struck first and then Dartmouth potted the next two to take a 2-1 lead. The Crimson held tight and Katie Johnston tied it back up mid-way through the second period and the score stayed knotted the rest of the way and through overtime. Dartmouth won the earlier season matchup and a win by Harvard would have tied the two teams in the league standings. With the tie, Dartmouth stays on top with 25 points to the Crimson's 23.
Sabrina Harbec was the league's top performer over the week, and earned Player of the Week honors after posting six goals and three assists in St. Lawrence's wins over Yale and Brown. The senior forward also netted both game winners.
Colgate earned both of its wins over Cornell it their annual home-and-home series. Evan Minnick earned Rookie of the Week honors after netting an assist on Friday and the game-winning goal on Saturday.
Rensselaer wrapped up the weekly awards and the sweeps, when it earned a victory over No. 10 Princeton and followed with a win vs. Quinnipiac. Ashley Mayr was between the pipes and stopped 56 total shots en route to both victories and Goaltender of the Week honors. Thirty of her saves came against the nationally ranked Tigers.
While Princeton may have dropped one of its games over the weekend, it still claimed four points on the week, as the Tigers played three games overall. The team started off with a five-goal win over Quinnipiac and finished things with a shutout against Union.
Brown and Yale each claimed a W over Clarkson. The Bears' Nicole Stock earned the 1-0 shutout vs. the Knights after making 33 saves. The Bulldogs' Sheila Zingler scored the final three goals of the game for a natural hat trick. The hatty, which also included a short-handed goal, was the first by a Yale player since January 2005.
Quinnipiac's lone win of the week came against Union, with Laura Brennan earning the shutout in goal.
The only non-league game of the week saw the Big Green fall to Connecticut on Saturday.

season. She made 56 stops over the two games.

Forward n Highlands Ranch, Colo.
Minnick scored the winning goal on Saturday, as Colgate fought back
for a 2-1 win after being down 1-0. It was her first career goal.
TEAM NOTES
Brown: Brown split with Clarkson and No. 7 St. Lawrence over the weekend, climbing to 10th in the ECACHL standings ... After starting the season 0-9-0, the Bears are 4-3-2 in their last nine games, and 3-1-1 in their last five ... Sophomore Nicole Stock picked up Brown's first shutout of the season on Friday night, making 33 saves ... Junior Hayley Moore has a five-game point streak (4g, 1a).
Clarkson: For the second straight year, Clarkson captain Lindsay Williams has been named a finalist for the Hockey Humanitarian Award ... After skating to a school-record eight-game winning streak from mid-November into early January, the Knights are suffering through their longest losing stretch of the season at three games ... 2006 All-American Kira Hurley returned to the Clarkson goal this past weekend after missing the previous 12 games due to injury. Hurley combined for 45 saves on 51 shots in the games at Brown and Yale.
Colgate: With a 9-3 league record, the Raiders are just one win away from setting a school record for most league wins since joining the ECAC Hockey League in 2001-02 ... The Raiders' six goals against Cornell on Friday was the largest margin of victory in series history ... After being shut down during the Wayne State series, Sam Hunt is scoring again, tallying four points in the past two games. She has collected at least one point in each of the 12 league games this season ... Also on two-game scoring steaks are Ashley Bradford (0-2-2), Tara French (2-2-4) and Evan Minnick (1-1-2).
Cornell: Caeleigh Beerworth scored the Big Red's lone goal in its home-and-home series with Colgate over the weekend.
Dartmouth: The Big Green is still leading the ECACHL race after tying Harvard over the weekend. Dartmouth has a two-point (25-23) lead over the Crimson in the standings ... The line of Katie Weatherston, Gillian Apps and Sarah Parsons accounted for both of the Green's goals. Weatherston scored first with Apps and Parsons assisting and then Apps scored with the other two helping out.
Harvard: Harvard remained unbeaten at home in 2006-07 with its 2-2 tie against Dartmouth this past Friday. The Crimson is now 9-0-2 at Bright Hockey Center this season ... Harvard's tying goal against Dartmouth came with the Crimson on a five-on-three power play, giving Harvard at least one power play goal in every game this season ... Senior Julie Chu assisted on the Crimson's game-tying goal, extending her streak to 21 consecutive games with at least one point.
Princeton: Princeton completed season sweeps of Quinnipiac and Union, and earned a season split with Rensselaer during the week ... Princeton's 5-0 shutout of Union on Sunday was the Tigers' third shutout of the season. Princeton also shut out Cornell and Wayne State ... Junior Marykate Oakley (3g, 2a) and senior Kate Hession (1g, 4a) both earned five points in Princeton's three games during the week.
Quinnipiac: Quinnipiac surpassed its win total in conference play for last season when it beat Union on Saturday. The squad still has six league games left to improve its mark ... The Bobcats went a perfect 12-for-12 on the penalty kill in the Capital District over the weekend and have killed off 15 straight penalties dating back to Tuesday's loss at Princeton ... Quinnipiac's top seven scorers are all freshmen and sophomores ... Sophomore Elyse Cole set a career high for points in a season on Saturday at Union with a goal and an assist. She now has 14 points to date this year.
Rensselaer: Rensselaer swept its second ECACHL series of the season with victories over nationally-ranked Princeton and Quinnipiac ... The Engineers have won seven of their last ten games, including five wins against league opponents . Freshman Whitney Naslund leads the squad in scoring with 21 points (7g, 14a) ... The Engineers are 13th in the nation and fourth among ECACHL teams in scoring offense (3.17 gpg.) ... RPI will face St. Lawrence and Clarkson next weekend marking the first meeting between the Saints and the Engineers since the 1997-98 season.
St. Lawrence: With an impressive weekend sweep over Yale and Brown, the Saints extended their season-long unbeaten streak to eight games (7-0-1) which is the third longest active steak in the nation ... The outstanding offensive performance this weekend helped improve their record to 16-1-1 when scoring three or more goals, and SLU improved to 10-0-0 when leading after the first period.
Union: The Dutchwomen were assessed with a season-low three penalties against Princeton ... Union has killed 88.5% of its penalties in the last four games ... Goalie Mandy Hanson made 88 saves in two games this weekend ... Union is on the road for its next four games.
Yale: Yale's seniors set the school record for wins by a class (49) with a 5-1 victory over Clarkson Saturday ... Yale has won five of its last six, limiting its opponents to one goal or no goals four times in that stretch ... Senior Sheila Zingler has a seven-game point scoring streak (4-6-10). She has been held without a point in only four of Yale's 18 games this year ... Senior Kristin Savard was named one of five finalists for the Hockey Humanitarian Award on Friday ... Sophomore forward Crysti Howser has 10 points (4-6-10) in her last seven games. Over the weekend vs. St. Lawrence and Clarkson she won 42 of 58 face-offs.
