16 ECACHL Women Invited to U.S. National Festival

Sixteen ECAC Hockey League women have been invited to the 2006 U.S. National Women's Festival taking place in Lake Placid, N.Y. in August. A total of 40 top women's ice hockey players from under 22 years of age will participate in the festival, which will serve as the tryout for a three-game Under-22 series against Canada later in the summer. Following the Festival, a final roster of 20 players will be announced

Highlighting the Festival roster are three members of the bronze-medal-winning 2006 U.S. Olympic Women's Ice Hockey Team - and ECACHL athletes -- in Caitlin Cahow (Harvard), Sarah Parsons (Dartmouth) and Helen Resor (Yale).

Joining this trio are 13 others from league schools. Overall, Harvard, Dartmouth and St. Lawrence are each represented with three players each at the Festival, while Brown, Princeton and Yale have two each and Clarkson one.

Harvard head coach Katey Stone, a former U.S. Women's National Team assistant coach, will serve as head coach of the 2006 U.S. Women's National Under-22 Select Team. Joining Stone behind the bench will be former Olympian and Brown University graduate Katie King '97 (who is also an assistant coach at Boston College) and University of Minnesota women's ice hockey assistant coach Brad Frost.

Dartmouth head coach Mark Hudak will also be present in Lake Placid, serving as a Festival coach.

The festival will take place August 15-22 at the Lake Placid Olympic Center, while the Under-22 series vs. Canada will be played August 24-27 in Ottawa, Ontario.
