Time Warner Cable has announced it will televise Friday's ECAC Women's Hockey League between Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and Colgate University live beginning at 7p.m. The game will air throughout the Capital Region on Time Warner Cable's Channel 3 and in Central New York on Channel 26. Chris Watson will handle the play-by-play with color commentary by Danny Liedka.
Rensselaer enters Friday's contest with an overall record of 11-13-1, and a League mark of 7-6-1, which ties it for sixth place with Yale. Colgate sports an overall record of 11-10-2, and a League mark of 10-3-1, which ranks tied for fourth with Princeton.
The Engineers are coming off a weekend split against sixth-ranked St. Lawrence and Clarkson. Freshman forward Whitney Naslund (Bloomington, MN/Bloomington Jefferson), who leads the team in scoring with 23 points (8 goals, 15 assists) in 25 games, tallied the game-winning goal and added an assist in Saturday's 4-3 victory over the Golden Knights.
Colgate garnered three of four points last weekend with a 4-3 win at Brown Friday and a 2-2 overtime tie at Yale Saturday. Katie Stewart netted a pair of goals to lead the Raiders in the win over the Bears; Carly McNaughton and Elin Brown provided the offense against the Bulldogs, while Elayna Hamashuk stopped 31 shots in goal to pace the Raiders defensively.
Friday's game, which will be replayed and placed in Time Warner's On-Demand system, marks the second meeting of the season between the two teams. In the first meeting on December 2, Colgate's Stewart scored on the power play and Brook Wheeler posted 14 saves in goal en route to a 1-0 Raiders' win at the Houston Field House.
