Quinnipiac Assistant Giovanelli To Play For Men's Professional Inline Hockey Team

Quinnipiac assistant women's ice hockey coach Lisa Giovanelli will be playing with the Hartford Fire Ants of the Professional Inline Hockey Association (PIHA) this winter. The only female on the Fire Ants roster most recently won a gold medal with Team USA at the 2006 Federation Internationale de Roller Sports (FIRS) World Inline Hockey Championships and was featured on ESPN.com over the summer.

The Hartford Fire Ants are in their inaugural season of play in the PIHA. Giovanelli, a forward, is one of only two current females in the league which consists of 31 teams. She is also just the third female ever to compete in the PIHA professional division.

Giovanelli and the Fire Ants play their first regular season games on Dec. 16 at the ZRink in Glastonbury, Conn. against the Philadelphia Growl.
