ECACHL Women's Playoffs Set -- Quarterfinals begin Feb. 23
ALBANY, N.Y. -- The seedings for the ECAC Hockey League women's playoffs have been set and the eight teams, in order, are Dartmouth, St. Lawrence, Harvard, Princeton, Colgate, Yale, Clarkson and Rensselaer. The quarterfinals begin this coming Friday, Feb. 23, and are a best-of-three series that will take place through that Sunday (Feb. 25) if necessary.
Dartmouth entered the weekend having already captured the regular-season crown and finished the league schedule with a 20-1-1 record. The Big Green will play host to No. 8 Rensselaer with the first game slated for 4 p.m. on Friday the 23rd. Saturday's game will be at 2 p.m. and a third game (if necessary) will also start at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
No. 2 St. Lawrence earned its seed with a 17-4-1 record. The Saints actually tied Harvard for second place in the standings, however, SLU won the tiebreaker by having defeated the Crimson twice during the season.
St. Lawrence will face local rival No. 7 Clarkson with games at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 4 p.m. Sunday (if necessary). The Golden Knights were 10-10-2 for the year in league play.
No. 3 Harvard will face No. 6 Yale this weekend. Friday's game time is set for 3:30 p.m., with Saturday and Sunday's (if necessary) games starting at 2 each day. The Bulldogs posted a 10-10-2 record in league play this year and finished tied with Clarkson in the final standings, but Yale had the advantage in the tiebreakers.
The final matchup has No. 5 Colgate traveling to No. 4 seed Princeton. Game times have not been finalized yet, but will be posted shortly. The Tigers were 14-6-2 in league play for the year, while the Raiders posted a 14-7-1 mark. Princeton won both regular-season games against Colgate earlier in the year.
Winners of the four quarterfinal series will advance to the semifinals, which will take place Saturday, March 3 at the home arena of the highest remaining seed. The championship game will take place the next day.
