Weekly ECAC Hockey League Women's Honorees Announced

ALBANY, N.Y. - Three athletes have been honored by the ECAC Hockey League. It was announced earlier today that Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's Jamie-Lynn Stewart (Cambridge, Ont.), St. Lawrence University's Meaghan Guckian (Victor, N.Y.) and Union College's Brenna Malnar (Southgate, Mich.) have been tabbed with the league's weekly awards.

Stewart is the Player of the Week and Guckian is the Goaltender of the Week, while Malnar earned Rookie of the Week honors.

Stewart had a hand in every RPI goal over the weekend. A sophomore forward, she tallied two goals and three assists for five points in a two-game split with Wayne State University. She set up RPI's first two goals and scored an empty-netter in the Engineers, 3-1 victory over the Warriors on Friday night. In Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss, the Cambridge, Ontario native scored Rensselaer's second goal, a power-play marker and added an assist. For the weekend she was a +3 with six shots.

The daughter of Chris Diamond-Stewart and Ken Stewart, Jamie-Lynn played hockey with the Cambridge Jr. Fury before attending Rensselaer.

Guckian picked up her fourth and fifth wins of the season with back-to-back victories over the No. 10 Clarkson Golden Knights. The junior netminder stopped 35-of-36 shots during the weekend series, posting a .972 save percentage and a 0.50 goals against average. This is the second straight week that Meaghan has been honored by the league.

Prior to attending St. Lawrence, Guckian started in goal for the Buffalo Bisons and the Victor Central Boys Varsity hockey team. She is the daughter of Vicki and Mike Guckian

Malnar recorded three points in two victories for Union this past weekend, picking up two goals and an assist. She netted the game winner and added an assist in Saturday's comeback win for her first career multiple-point game. It was the first weekend sweep by the Dutchwomen in nearly a year.

The daughter of Michele and Joseph Malnar, Brenna played hockey with Honeybaked AAA last season.
