Yale Moves to First Spot in Standings

Dartmouth Remains Undefeated

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Yale earned two ECAC Hockey League wins over the weekend, and in doing so, moved into first place in the standings. The Bulldogs now check in as the No 10 team in the nation this week according to both polls. Brown also swept its league competition, while Clarkson picked up two non-conference Ws.

Dartmouth also won over the week, claiming a 4-3 victory over New Hampshire for its 10th straight win.

The Bulldogs' four-point weekend came about by some stellar play, including that of two of this week's award winners. Sophomore Sheila Zingler posted two game-winning goals and totaled five points last week, as the team also beat Providence along with its conference foes Cornell and Colgate. She earned Player of the Week honors after posting the two goals and three assists along with a +3 rating. Junior goalie Sarah Love was very solid between the pipes to earn all three wins. She had a week-high 39 saves against the Friars and finished the week stopping 83 of the 86 shots she faced (.965). The move into first marks the first time in school history that the team has made it there this late into the season. Yale has now won six straight.

Brown's Hayley Moore earned Rookie of the Week honors after helping the Bears to its two victories over Union. The frosh picked up five points in the two games with three goals and two helpers and was +7.

Clarkson also earned two wins, beating Niagara twice at Cheel Arena. The Golden Knights are now 5-0-3 at home this year. The freshmen have been big contributors, including this past weekend, accounting for four of the team's five goals.

Princeton won its second game of the weekend with a 2-0 decision for its third straight shutout. The interesting note of the weekend was that the Tigers skated to a 0-0 draw with Colgate on Saturday as part of that streak. It was goalie vs. goalie, and neither was willing to give up. It was Princeton's first-ever scoreless tie, while it was the Raiders' second.

Dartmouth had just one game last week and felled New Hampshire 4-3. The Big Green is the only undefeated and untied team in Division I and the 10-game opening streak is the longest in the 28-year history of the program. Other non-league action saw St. Lawrence split at St. Cloud State, while Harvard fell twice to Minnesota-Duluth.

Although a handful of teams are idle because of exams, there are still plenty of games on tap this week. Yale and Vermont take on Mercyhurst and Boston College, respectively on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will battle the Lakers a second time in an afternoon contest the next day, while Harvard travels to Connecticut. For the weekend, St. Lawrence plays host to Wayne State twice; Dartmouth will have two home games vs. Minnesota; and Union travels to Niagara for two. Princeton also travels to Northeastern for a single contest, while Harvard has one at New Hampshire.
