Four Teams Start League Slate With Sweeps

Brown, Dartmouth and Harvard pick up two wins each

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Most of the ECAC Hockey League teams faced league opponents over the weekend and four squads opened up by winning two games each. Brown and Harvard won at home, while Dartmouth earned its wins on the road.

Princeton and Yale also earned victories over the weekend, as the two teams split their home contests.

No. 10 Brown scored six goals over the weekend to earn its wins, including a 2-0 shutout over Colgate. The freshman combination of O'Hara Shipe and Stacy Silverman recorded the shutout victory, with Shipe making 10 saves and Silverman finishing the game with 10 saves. Senior forward Krissy McManus led the team in the two wins with four points on the weekend.

No. 3 Harvard outscored its opponents 11-3 in its two wins and was led by senior forward Nicole Corriero, freshman forward Sarah Vaillancourt (this week's Rookie of the Week) and senior defenseman Ashley Banfield, who posted five points each over the weekend.

No. 2 Dartmouth allowed just one goal over the weekend to Yale and shutout Princeton. Two players, junior forward Katie Weatherston and sophomore goaltender Christine Capuano had standout performances for the Big Green and were named the league's Player and Goalie of the Week, respectively. Weatherston had eight points in the two games with six goals and two assists, while Capuano earned the shutout over the No. 5 Tigers.

Highlights from non-league play over the weekend included Clarkson and St. Lawrence both beating Northeastern. The Golden Knights rallied to earn a 3-3 tie with Providence, while Union skated to a 3-3 finish with Quinnipiac.

This coming weekend, travel partners Vermont and Dartmouth play their annual home-and-home series and Union travels to Cornell for two games. Brown and Harvard will hit the road and play games at Princeton and Yale. The Crimson will also take on Providence in a mid-week game, playing the Friars at home on Nov. 10.
