ECACHL's Grills Named USCHO Women's National Offensive Player of the Week
ALBANY, N.Y. - Sophomore forward Chelsea Grills (Stittsville, Ont.) has been named the USCHO.com Women's Offensive Player of the Week, it was announced last evening (Oct. 26). Grills is a student-athlete at St. Lawrence University.
Last Friday, Grills scored both of her team's goals on the power play in a tie with then-No. 9 Mercyhurst, and on Saturday she scored the game-winning goal in the third period of a 2-1 come-from-behind win in the rematch. No player other than Minnesota's Krissy Wendell and Dartmouth's Katie Weatherston had scored three goals in the same weekend against the Lakers over the past two years.
In four games this season, she has six points on four goals and two assists. Her four goals lead her Saints' team. St. Lawrence is currently ranked sixth in the national polls and is 2-0-2 on the year. The Saints next play Niagara at home in two games this coming weekend.
Chelsea is the daughter of Nancy and Doug Grills. She played hockey with the Ottawa Raiders prior to enrolling at St. Lawrence and also plays for the Under-22 Canadian National Team.
The USCHO.com men's Players of the Week are chosen by the USCHO staff after consideration of all games played the week before.
