ECAC Hockey League's Weatherston Named USCHO National Offensive Player of the Week

ALBANY, N.Y. - Junior forward Katie Weatherston (Thunder Bay, Ont.) has been named the USCHO.com Women's Division I Offensive Player of the Week, it was announced this evening (Nov. 9). Weatherston plays for Dartmouth College, which is ranked second in the latest national polls.

Weatherston continued her remarkable start to the year by notching six goals and two helpers in a pair of ECAC Hockey League games over the weekend, which helped the Big Green improve to 3-0-0. During the Big Green's 3-0 win over No. 8 Princeton, the junior scored short handed and on the power play just nine minutes apart to help Dartmouth pull away. The next day against Yale, she played a hand in Dartmouth's first six goals, including scoring four consecutive goals during a 13:39 span. It was her second hat trick in three games, and she now has nine goals and four assists for 13 points on the year and leads the nation in goals per game and points per game.

Weatherston, a second-team All-ECACHL selection a year ago will make her debut with the Canadian National Team this week at the 4 Nations Cup tournament.

Prior to attending Dartmouth, Weatherston played hockey for the Thunder Bay Comets. She is the daughter of David and Anna Weatherston.

The USCHO.com Players of the Week are chosen by the USCHO staff after consideration of all games played the week before.
