Weekly ECAC Hockey League Women's Honorees Announced

ALBANY, N.Y. - Three athletes have been honored by the ECAC Hockey League. It was announced earlier today (Nov. 2) that Katie Weatherston (Thunder Bay, Ont.) of Dartmouth, Roxanne Gaudiel (Venice, Fla.) of Princeton and Meaghan Guckian (Victor, N.Y.) of St. Lawrence have been tabbed with the league's weekly awards.

Weatherston was named Player of the Week, Gaudiel is the Goaltender of the Week and Guckian is the league's Rookie of the Week.

Weatherston, a junior forward, started the 2004-05 season with a bang in No. 2 Dartmouth's 7-1 opening victory over Boston College this past weekend. Weatherston notched her fourth career hat trick and added two assists for a career-high five points in the win. From 5:30 of the first period to 18:53 of the third, Weatherston contributed to five consecutive Dartmouth goals, all on the power play. She now has six goals and five assists in her last five home games. She now has 55 career goals and 45 career assists, making her the 23rd Big Green player to reach the 100-point mark.

Prior to attending Dartmouth, Weatherston played hockey for the Thunder Bay Comets. She is the daughter of David and Anna Weatherston.

Gaudiel backstopped Princeton to a win and a tie with No. 10 Providence over the weekend. On Saturday, the junior stopped 27 shots for the tie and then held the Friars to just one goal while making 22 saves for a 4-1 win. The Tigers into the top 10 nationally after the win, while Providence was relegated to those receiving votes.

The daughter of Remo and Martha Gaudiel, Roxanne played hockey for the Washington Pride prior to enrolling at Princeton.

For the second time this season, and second week in a row, Guckian was selected as the league's top rookie. The freshman made 24 saves last Saturday en route to earning her first career shutout, a 2-0 victory over Niagara. She went on to claim her fourth win in her fourth start, backstopping the Saints to a tight 4-3 victory over the Purple Eagles. In that win, she made 29 saves. For the weekend, she posted a 1.50 goals against average and a .946 save percentage.

Meaghan is he daughter of Vicki and Mike Guckian and played for the Buffalo Bisons prior to enrolling at St. Lawrence.

Five other student-athletes were named to the league's weekly honor roll: Erin Duggan - Yale (Sr., D, Beaumont, Alb.); Chelsea Grills - St. Lawrence (So., F, Stittsville, Ont.); Kim Pearce - Princeton (So., F, Ottawa, Ont.); Kate Lane - Dartmouth (Jr., G, Wingham, Ont.); Stacy Silverman - Brown (Fr., G Wakefield, Mass.)
