Nine ECACHL Women at Canadian U-22 Camp
Nine athletes with ECAC Hockey League ties are in Waterloo, Ontario, this week as part of Canada's National Under-22 team Development and Selection Camp. Each athlete is looking to make final roster of 22 players that will represent Canada in a three-game series vs. the United States Aug. 25-28.
Six ECACHL schools are represented at the camp, with Dartmouth leading the way with three selections in forwards Gillian Apps, Megan Walton and Katie Weatherston. The trio led the Big Green in scoring, with each hitting double-digit numbers in goals last season.
Katie Johnston of Harvard will get to know one of her new Crimson teammates, as Sarah Vaillancourt will join the collegiate squad in a few weeks. Johnston was Harvard's top freshman scorer last year as the team made it to the championship game at the Frozen Four.
Brown's Ashley Drover is the ECACHL's lone defenseman in the group, though is ably backed by Yale goaltender Sarah Love. Dartmouth's Gillian Apps and Princeton's Laura Watt round out the league's nine selections to the camp.
