Four Nations Cup Updates
Follow the action of 15 ECAC Hockey League women as they play in the Four Nations Cup for Team USA and Team Canada.
The Canadian and U.S. teams are the top two teams in the world. Team Canada won the gold medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, while the United States won the first gold medal in women's hockey at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan. Canada has won six of the last eight Nations Cup tourneys, while the United States is the defending champion, having won last year's gold medal game in a shootout vs. Canada. The shootout took 22 shots to decide the game's outcome.

Game 8: Canada 2, USA 1 (Nov. 14)
LAKE PLACID, N.Y. -- Former Cornell player Dana Antal scored the
game winner 2:20 into the third period to give Canada a 2-1 victory
over the United State in the gold medal game of the Four Nations
Cup. Head coach Melody Davidson, who is also the head coach at
Cornell, led the team to its seventh gold medal at the event. Pam
Dreyer (Brown '03) was in goal for the U.S. squad and made 24 stops
in the loss. ECAC Hockey League officials Julie Piacentini (R) and
Meghan Hismeh (L) worked the gold medal game.

Game 7: Sweden 4, Finland 2 (Nov. 14)
LAKE PLACID, N.Y. -- Sweden scored three power-play goals in the
second period to earn a 4-2 victory over Finland in the Four
Nations Cup bronze medal game. Four different players scored for
Sweden in the victory. Finland tallied both of its goals in the
third period, but wasn't able to overcome its opponent.

Game 6: USA 6, Sweden 3 (Nov. 13)
LAKE PLACID, N.Y. -- A hat trick by Krissy Wendell lifted the USA
to a come-from-behind victory over Sweden at the Four Nations Cup.
Sweden had a 2-1 lead mid-way through the second before the U.S.
came back with two goals to go ahead and three in a row to close
out the game. Harvard grad Angela Ruggiero '04, also scored in the
game and added and assist. Gretchen Anderson (Princeton '04) also
had an assist in the game. Brown graduate Pam Dreyer '03 was
between the pipes for the U.S. squad and made 11 saves in the win.
The United States will now face Canada in the gold medal match at
2:30.

Game 5: Canada 4, Finland 1 (Nov. 13)
LAKE PLACID, N.Y. -- Canada advanced to the gold medal game with
its 4-1 victory over Finland earlier today. Harvard's Sarah
Vaillancourt netted the game winner, while Dartmouth grad Correne
Bredin opened the scoring in the game. Gina Kingsbury (St. Lawrence
'04) and Dartmouth's Katie Weatherston also contributed to the
victory with one assist each. Canada will now face the United State
in a Sunday contest to determine the gold medal winner.

Game 4: Sweden 2, Finland 2 (Nov. 11)
LAKE PLACID, N.Y. -- Finland and Sweden skated to a 2-2 tie in Four
Nations Cup action on Tuesday night. Finland went up 2-0 early in
the second period, but Sweden came back with two of its own to tie
it up. The two kept it tied up the rest of the way and were nearly
even in shots (28-27) in the game. Finland had the big advantage,
with 11 power play opportunities, but was held by Sweden to just
one goal. The two teams are back in action on Saturday (Nov. 13)
with Sweden taking on the United States and Finland meeting
Canada.

Game 3: USA 1, Canada 1 (Nov. 11)
BURLINGTON, Vt. -- The U.S. and Canada skated to a 1-1 tie on
Thursday night at Gutterson Fieldhouse on the University of Vermont
campus. Canada struck first with a power-play goal in the first
period. Brown alum Katie King '97 evened it up for the U.S. less
than two minutes into the second with an even-strength tally. Team
USA peppered peppered a total of 34 shots on goal in the game,
including 15 in the third but couldn't get another across the line.
Canada had 19 shots in the game. After a day off, Canada next plays
Finland Saturday (Nov. 13) at 1 p.m., while the U.S. faces Sweden
at 4.

Game 2: USA 6, Finland 1 (Nov. 10)
LAKE PLACID, N.Y. - Princeton sophomore Liz Keady scored two goals,
including the game winner, to help lead Team USA to victory over
Finland. Gretchen Anderson and Andrea Kilbourne also had goals in
the contest. Julie Chu, and Katie King had one assist each.
Overall, the U.S. squad out shot Finland 44-14, and it was Pam
Dreyer making the stops for the Stars and Stripes. Team USA next
plays Canada at 7 p.m. tomorrow, Nov. 11. The game will be played
on the University of Vermont campus at Gutterson Fieldhouse.

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. -- Canada opened up Four Nations Cup play with a
3-2 win over Sweden on Nov. 10. Canada scored a goal in each period
with the game winner coming at 18:44 in the third. No ECACHL player
netted any points in the contest. However, Sarah Vaillancourt made
the score sheet with a two-minute penalty for hooking in the second
period. Team USA next plays Canada at 7 p.m. tomorrow, Nov. 11. The
game will be played on the University of Vermont campus at
Gutterson Fieldhouse.
