With 11:22 remaining in the third period of Game 2 of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms’ Atlantic Division semifinal back in April, Alex Lyon went down in his crease.

The Hershey Bears' Travis Boyd made incidental contact with Lyon and while the goalie battled through the sequence until the puck was cleared, he did not get up when play was whistled dead.

His team clinging to a 4-3 lead, already behind 1-0 in the best-of-five series and having lost the other half of their goaltending tandem for the season in Anthony Stolarz, it was the last thing the Phantoms needed. For Lyon, who had an opportunity to shine on the biggest stage he’s been so far in his career, it wasn’t ideal either.
