Jackals Acquire Martin
The Elmira Jackals announced on Tuesday that they have acquired
former Yale defenseman Jimmy Martin along with future
considerations from the Florida Everblades in exchange for
defenseman Mike Ratchuk.
Martin, a rookie, has split 2011-2012 with the Everblades and the
Bakersfield Condors, collecting 13 points (3g-10a) between the two
clubs. The St. Louis, Mo. native was traded from the Condors to the
Everblades on Dec. 1 and in 18 games with Florida posted a +7
rating, checking in third best on the club in that category. He
began his professional career at the end of the 2010-2011 season,
skating in three games with the Reading Royals.
Prior to beginning his professional career, Martin played four seasons at Yale, serving as the Bulldogs captain in his senior season of 2010-2011 as Yale won the ECAC Hockey Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals. Martin did not miss a game during his career at Yale, accumulating 58 points (11g-47a) in 138 contests.
