Donald Returns to AHL

The Charlotte Checkers have recalled former Yale standout Ryan Donald from the ECHL’s Florida Everblades.

Donald, 25, started the season with the Checkers but sat out the first six games as a healthy scratch up until his reassignment on Oct. 23. In 32 games with Florida this season, Donald has 11 points (3g, 8a) to go along with a plus-9 rating and 82 penalty minutes, both of which rank as team highs. Donald, a second-year pro who played four years at Yale, has played a total of 16 AHL games with Springfield and Providence, recording 3 assists and 33 penalty minutes.

Donald, who the Checkers signed to a two-way contract on Aug. 8, is expected to make his Checkers debut on Friday. He will be playing his first AHL game since suiting up for Providence on April 1 of last season.
