Martin Begins Pro Career in Reading

READING, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has signed Yale defenseman Jimmy Martin to an Amateur Tryout Agreement.

Martin (5'9) (189), who hails from St. Louis, Missouri, just completed his senior season at Yale University, where he led defensemen on the team in scoring with twenty-three points (7g-16a) in 36 games. Martin, who served as the Elis' team captain and was selected to the All-Ivy League team this past season, was a member of three separate Yale University teams that made it to the NCAA tournament. This season, Yale won the ECAC Hockey Championship Title for the third straight year and was the Number 1 Seed in the NCAA tournament but was ousted in the East Regionals by the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

In 138 total college games with Yale, Martin registered fifty-eight points (11g-47a) and 126 penalty minutes.
