Left wing David Meckler, in his fourth full season with the
Manchester Monarchs, has been one of the most durable players to
have ever donned the team’s jersey. In each of
his last four seasons, Meckler has appeared in at least 73 games
while maintaining his production throughout his tenure in
Manchester.
Despite the Monarchs dropping a 3-1 decision to the Worcester
Sharks on March 11, 2011, Meckler skated in his 285th professional
game with Manchester, passing former Monarchs defenseman Joe
Rullier for first place all-time in games played in franchise
history. Meckler, who is still only 23 years old, has
accomplished many things in his young career and his durability has
allowed him to break a franchise record.
“I’m honored to have that record with this
team,” said Meckler, who at season’s end had skated in
298 regular season contests for the Monarchs.
“It’s a great organization to play in from top to
bottom, between the Los Angeles Kings and Manchester. The
fans and city [have also been great], so it’s a great spot to
be and I love playing here. I hope to get some more
[games].”
