Stephen Gionta and Brad Mills can find similarities in their paths. Both had four-year college hockey careers followed by several seasons at the developmental level. For Gionta, he has spent five full seasons with the AHL Devils, while Mills has spent four.
Last season both players broke into the NHL lineup for the first time and both are relying on that experience for this training camp and the upcoming season.
“Now I know exactly what to expect in the regular season and not just preseason,” Gionta said. “It is a step up and it was a great opportunity. I was absolutely thankful for it. Hopefully it can happen again this year.”
