Panthers Call Callahan
Florida Panthers General Manager Dale Tallon announced today
that the club has recalled former Yale defenseman Joe Callahan from
the Rochester Americans (AHL).
The NHL promotion is third of the season for Callahan, who will be
eligible to compete in Florida’s home game against the San
Jose Sharks on Sunday, February 13th. Faceoff is slated for 5 p.m.
at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida. Callahan, 28, has
appeared in four games with Florida this season, averaging 14:25
minutes per game. For his career in the National Hockey League, he
has played in 23 games with Florida (2010-11), San Jose (2009-10)
and NY Islanders (2008-09), registering three assists and six
penalty minutes.
The Brockton, Massachusetts, native has played in 46 games with
Rochester this season, scoring three goals with nine assists for 12
points and 12 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-3, 221-pound rearguard
was drafted by Phoenix in the third round (70th overall) in the
2002 NHL Entry Draft.
