NEW HAVEN, Conn. – There will be at least 16 opportunities to see the 2011-12 Yale Men's Hockey Team skate against Division I opponents at Ingalls Rink. The Bulldogs, who made it to the NCAA Regional final the last two winters and won a school-record 28 games last year, announced their new, 31-contest schedule today.
The Elis, who led the nation with a school-record 17-1-1 home mark in 2010-11, will have Ingalls rocking the first weekend of regular-season play in November. After giving fans an Oct. 22 preview against Waterloo and then going to Hanover for the Ivy Shootout, the Blue hosts Cornell and Colgate on Nov. 4-5 to open ECAC Hockey play.
The 2011-12 slate includes nine games against opponents ranked among the top 20 by ucho.com last season. The new schedule also includes 4 p.m. games at Ingalls Rink against Boston College (Nov. 26) and Bentley (Jan. 1). The rest are 7 p.m. opening faceoffs.
The Blue, winners of two of the last three ECAC regular season titles, begins conference tournament play on March 2 with hopes of defending its 2011 championship at Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall.
For the second straight March, and the third time in four years, Yale co-hosts the NCAA East Regional at Webster Bank's Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, Conn. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs, who get a look at Harbor Yard on Nov. 22 against Sacred Heart, aim to compete in their fourth straight NCAA regional.
