Backman Aims to Make Mark with Sound Tigers

BRIDGEPORT -- It's not as if he'll be sleeping in his old bed, but Sean Backman is just about back home again.
Backman, who grew up in Greenwich, signed with the New York Islanders in August. He skated Monday with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers for the first time as the team began practice for its 11th season.
"Everyone's excited," Backman said. "The first practice, it's good to get that going ¦ see if we can fine-tune everything."
