INCH A to Z: Kenny Agostino

The following article featuring Yale forward Kenny Agostino appeared August 4 on the Inside College Hockey (INCH) Web site.

An alphabetical listing of all of the participating teams in college hockey will show Yale last on the list, so in a reversal of that role, the first player in the 2011 INCH A-Z feature is Yale forward Kenny Agostino.

We'll continue to roll out profiles over the next several weeks on players (and some coaches) that you should get to know before the start of the season. Remember, these may not necessarily be the most marquee players on every team, but those who we expect to step into a more prominent role for their teams.

KENNY AGOSTINO
Yale
So. | F | Flanders, N.J.

Key Statistics: 31 GP, 11-14–25. 4 PPGs. Agostino ranked sixth on Yale in scoring, and will be the team’s third-leading returning scorer this season.

What He Does: Agostino stepped right in and contributed as a freshman right out of high school hockey at Delbarton School. He was a Pittsburgh Penguins draft pick last summer and ranked seventh overall among ECAC Hockey freshmen with 25 points. He excelled in conference play, with 16 of his 25 total points coming in ECACH regular-season contests. Agostino missed five of Yale’s first 10 games, but recorded two three-game point streaks in the middle of the season, and he had a three-goal, two-assist effort in Yale’s 10-3 win over Holy Cross.
