Scotland Beckons Turner
The Dundee CCS Stars have completed their import roster by
announcing the signing of former Yale defenceman Brennan Turner.
The 6-foot, 3-inch, Canadian has a distinguished career in North
American playing in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) and the
American Hockey League (AHL). He is also a former teammate of new
Stars' forward Jarrett Konkle having played alongside him for the
Elmira Jackels and Fresno Falcons.
In his first match for Stars Turner will face another former
teammate when he will meet up again with Fife Flyers' new recruit
Matt Siddall. The pair played together with Gwinnett Gladiators in
the ECHL during season 2008/2009.
Stars' head coach, Dan Ceman couldn't hide his delight with his
new signing when he said, "Brennan is going to be huge for us. He
has been a top shut down defenceman in the ECHL over the last three
seasons and takes immense pride in his defensive play. He is a huge
presence on the ice as he plays a tough, physical brand of hockey
and opponents will always know when he's on the ice. The great
thing about Brennan is that with all the talk about how good he is
defensively he also moves the puck very well and when he's been
given the opportunity to produce offensively he has put up very
good numbers. I think Brennan has the ability to be one of the best
two-way defenceman in the league."
Brennan is also looking forward to his first trip to Scotland and
added, "I'm really looking forward to coming to Dundee at the end
of August and I'm hoping that we can build on what the team did
last year right from the get go. In speaking with Coach Ceman and
new fellow Dundee Star, Jarrett Konkle, I feel Dundee and the Elite
League will be a great fit for me. I'm also looking forward to
experience living in Scotland and to meeting Stars' wonderful
fans."
