Arcobello Named All Star

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks, has announced in conjunction with the ECHL that rookie center Mark Arcobello, a former Yale standout, has been named to the ECHL All-Star roster for the 2011 ECHL All-Star Classic in Bakersfield, Calif.

Arcobello, 22, leads Thunder rookies with 13 points (6g-7a) in 26 games and is tied for the team’s rookie lead with six goals, collecting four penalty minutes.

The first-year, 5-foot-9, 165-pound forward was signed to an AHL contract with the Oklahoma City Barons before the season. He previously skated in 131 career games through four seasons (2006-10) in college with Yale University (NCAA), scoring 116 points (49g-67a) and posting 203 penalty minutes.

Finishing over a point-per-game average in his final two seasons, the native of Milford, Conn. was named second-team All-Ivy last season with a career-high 36 points (15g-21a) in 34 games as a 2009-10 senior. He led the program in scoring as a 2008-09 junior, racking up 35 points (17g-18a) and a career-high 17 goals in 34 games.
