Blase to Play Professionally in Netherlands
The Tilburg Trappers (Netherlands) announced the signing of former Yale goaltender Billy Blase to a contract through the end of the 2010-11 season.
"It all went very fast," said Blase after he put his signature under a contract him until the end of the season. "Through a friend of Gus Baker, I came in contact with Tilburg. He offered me a tryout and I have this opportunity. Hopefully this is the beginning of a successful period in Tilburg."
A native of Santa Monica, California, Blase was a member of the Bulldogs from 2006-07 through 2009-10. He appeared in 44 contests in his four years with Yale, compiling a 21-12-6 record, .906 save percentage and 2.58 goals-against average. Blase was a member of the two-time regular-season champion Bulldogs and 2009 League championship squad.
