Deschenes Moves to Italy's A League
Nick Deschenes, a former Yale standout, has joined Ritten/Renon (Italy), the team announced Monday.
Deschenes joins Ritten/Renon, which competes in the A series in Italy, after starting the 2010-11 campaign with Eppan-Appiano (Italy). In 19 games with Eppan-Appiano, the Morinville, Alberta native amassed 29 points on the strength of 15 goals. Eppan-Appiano competes in Italy’s B League.
Deschenes spent the 2009-10 season in the Netherlands as a member of the Nijmegen Devils. He registered 69 points, including 33 goals, in 45 contests. In eight playoff games with the Devils, Deschenes set up seven tallies.
Deschenes has plenty of international experience, having
spent two seasons (2006-08) with Cortina SG (Italy) and the 2005-06
campaign with Kaufbeuren ESV (Germany). He did not play in
2008-09.
From 1999 through 2003, Deschenes displayed his skills with the
Bulldogs competing in 114 games. In four seasons in New Haven,
Conn., Deschenes lit the lamp 36 times and set up 51 tallies.
After leaving Yale, Deschenes played in the American Hockey League
(AHL) with Philadelphia and the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL)
with Trenton.
