NEW HAVEN — Less than two days after winning the United
States’ first gold medal at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver,
Hannah Kearney made the rounds on talk shows like “Good
Morning America” and the “Today” show Monday.
Three thousand miles away, Denny Kearney spent the morning getting
adjusted to being the younger brother of a budding celebrity. That
consisted mainly of shaking a lot of hands and accepting
congratulations on Hannah’s behalf between his classes at
Yale. It was mere child’s play, of course, compared to his
sister’s harried schedule after capturing gold in
women’s moguls skiing Saturday night.
Hannah Kearney upset Canada’s Jennifer Heil, making amends
for a disappointing 2006 Olympic run in Turin, Italy, when Kearney
entered as the favorite and finished 22nd.
