Yale Focused on NCAA Hat Trick
The following article appeared in the October 15 issue of the New Haven Register.
NEW HAVEN — The season hasn’t started yet, so a
relaxed Keith Allain, in a relative sense, let an occasional smile
interrupt the hard-boiled demeanor he will carry for the next six
months of the college hockey season.
Allain would rather get his message across in three words than six,
but it isn’t so much what he said Thursday, on the eve of
Yale’s first organized practice for the 2010-11 hockey
season, as what his team has delivered, and how the team is now
perceived in the four short years since he replaced Tim Taylor as
head coach.
Yale, coming off unprecedented back-to-back trips to the NCAA
tournament, sits fifth in the current United States College Hockey
Online national poll, an indication that Allain has delivered on
one of his rare promises when he returned to the alma mater in
2006.
