Hamilton to Play in Finland

Former Yale standout Jeff Hamilton has signed a contract with HIFK (Finland), the team announced Monday. Hamilton spent the 2009-10 campaign with Lugano of the Swiss National League A.

A native of Englewood, Ohio, Hamilton appeared in 46 contests with Lugano, registering 46 points (22 goals, 24 assists). He also competed in four playoff contests but did not register a point.

Hamilton spent the 2008-09 campaign with the Toronto Maple Leafs (NHL) and Chicago Wolves (AHL). He played in 15 games, accumulating six points, with Toronto, and competed in 50 games with the Wolves, amassing 53 points.

A four-year standout at Yale (1996-01 -- Hamilton was sidelined for all but two games in 1999-00), Hamilton was an offensive force for the Bulldogs, racking up 80 goals and 94 assists in 127 contests. His top offensive season came in 2000-01 as he scored 23 goals and added 32 assists in 31 games.

After concluding his collegiate career at Yale, Hamilton spent the 2001-02 season playing in Finland with Kärpät Oulu (39 games, 33 points). He then alternated between 2002 and 2009 periods with the NHL (New York Islanders, Chicago Blackhawks, Carolina Hurricanes, Toronto Maple Leafs) and the AHL (Bridgeport Sound Tigers, Hartford Wolf Pack, Albany River Rats, Chicago Wolves).

Overall, Hamilton took part in 157 games in the NHL (32 goals and 45 assists) and 292 games in the AHL, where he gathered 269 points (131 goals and 138 assists).
