Condors Acquire Brooks from Utah
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors, official ECHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks, today acquired former Yale defenseman Chris Brooks from the Utah Grizzlies in exchange for future considerations. The deal was announced by Condors Head Coach Marty Raymond.
"We need some help on the blueline, ASAP," said Raymond. "Losing John de Gray (reassigned to Rochester earlier this week) and Eric Regan has left us short on the blueline, and I wanted to get a big man who plays defensive hockey, and Chris gives us that."
Brooks, 27, is in his fourth professional campaign, and has
1g-1a with 10 penalty minutes in 10 games, and his +4 rating is
second among all Grizzlies defensemen. Last season, the New York,
NY, native suited up for three different teams - Augusta,
Mississippi and Utah - in the ECHL, recording 2g-10a-12pts and 107
penalty minutes in 68 games. The 6-3, 220-pound blueliner played
three seasons at Yale (2003-06) prior to turning pro.
He is expected to be in the Condors lineup this weekend with
Bakersfield hosts the Ontario Reign on Saturday, Jan. 2 at 7 p.m.
