BRIDGEPORT — A little heartbreak is probably in order, but
not too much before the Yale hockey program is ready to reflect
upon a breakthrough season and its future under coach Keith
Allain.
No, Yale can’t be very happy with its performance in Friday
night’s NCAA first-round 4-1 loss to Vermont, but that will
soon be a minor consideration when compared to the upside of the
Bulldogs in 2009-10 and beyond.
This first-ever Yale ECAC tournament championship team will
largely be in tact next year, so the cast that turned the corner in
three years under Allain from mediocre to decent to nationally
recognized, will have an opportunity to build on its first NCAA
exposure in 11 years.
