BRIDGEPORT -- There was a night, a long time ago, that told the
story, loud and clear, of just what kind of a player Keith Allain
was.
It was three days after Christmas in 1978 and the Yale Bulldogs
were playing Minnesota. The Gophers were building a team that would
win the NCAA championship the following year. Yale was coming off
five straight losing seasons.
That night, Allain, a junior goaltender for Yale, played his
backside off. He made 55 saves against the Gophers in a 7-3 loss.
He never stopped playing hard. He never stopped trying to win.
