Dwyer Joins Cedar Rapids Staff
CEDAR RAPIDS -- Former Yale standout Jeff Dwyer is the new
assistant coach for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders of the United
States Hockey League (USHL), according to head coach/general
manager Mark Carlson. Dwyer replaces Mark Mullen, who left the
organization recently to take a scouting job with the NHL’s
Los Angeles Kings.
“I knew who I wanted about two days after (Mullen
left),” Carlson said.
Dwyer, 28, is a Connecticut native who played four years
collegiately as a defenseman at Yale. A sixth-round draft pick of
the Atlanta Thrashers in 2000, Dwyer played five seasons
professionally, including a stint in Italy and with the AHL’s
Chicago Wolves.
Last year, he was an assistant coach for the ECHL’s Utah
Grizzlies.
