WORCESTER — Joe Callahan takes his age so seriously, he
wears it on his uniform.
The Sharks defenseman is 26 years old and has that number. Not
that 26 is ancient, even by hockey standards, but Callahan is old
enough to have had Terry Virtue as a teammate.
That was in Utah in 2004-05, the second stop of Callahan’s
AHL career. The Sharks are stop No. 6 — last year’s
address was Bridgeport — and they are the closest he has
gotten to his hometown of Abington. Coming home was a factor in his
decision to sign with Worcester, Callahan said, but not a big one.
It was mostly about the organization.
