Arcobello Named All-American
Mark Arcobello (Milford, Conn.), a junior forward who helped the
2008-09 Yale men's hockey team become the best in school history,
has been named to the Reebok Men's East University Division I
All-American Second Team. The announcement of the All-America team
was made at the Frozen Four in Washington, D.C., after the
presentation of the Hobey Baker Award.
"This is a tremendous honor and something great for the Yale
Hockey Program," said Arcobello. "It means a lot to me to be
included on a list with such great players. I realize none of the
accolades are possible without team success, and my teammates are
responsible for all individual awards."
Arcobello is the first Yale hockey All-American since current
Montreal Canadiens forward Chris Higgins was selected in 2003. The
Bulldogs now have 13 student-athletes who have been named hockey
All-Americans.
Arcobello, who had a point in 14 of the last 17 games, was named
first-team All-ECAC, All-New England and All-Ivy. He led the Blue
with 35 points, including the second most (17) goals. He was second
in Division I with seven game-winners this winter.
He was ECAC Hockey Player of the Week on March 2 after netting the
game-winning goal and three assists in Yale's 4-2 win over Cornell
at home that clinched the regular-season title on Feb. 27.
