Deschenes Skating in the Netherlands
Nick Deschenes, a former Yale standout, is showcasing his skills
in the Netherlands as a member of the Nijmegen Devils. The Devils
secured the services of Deschenes earlier in the fall.
A native of Morinville, Alberta, Deschenes has plenty of
international experience, having spent the last two seasons with
Cortina SG (Italy) and the 2005-06 campaign with Kaufbeuren ESV
(Germany). Last season, Deschenes played in 17 games with Cortina,
amassing four goals and three assists. His best campaign overseas
came in 2006-07 when he tallied 18 goals and 19 assists in only 32
games with Cortina.
From 1999 through 2003, Deschenes displayed his skills with the
Bulldogs competing in 114 games. In four seasons in New Haven,
Conn., Deschenes lit the lamp 36 times and set up 51 tallies.
After leaving Yale, Deschenes played in the American Hockey League
(AHL) with Philadelphia and the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL)
with Trenton.
