Austria is Zappala's New Home

Former Yale forward Joe Zappala has joined EK Zell am See (Austria), the team announced Saturday.
The Medford, MA native will compete in the Austrian National
League after starting the 2008-09 season with the Charlotte
Checkers of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL).
Zappala, 6-foot-0, 205 pounds suited up in nine games for the
Checkers this season totaling two goals and zero assists with 14
penalty minutes. He played the last two seasons with the Reading
Royals. During that time, he suited up in 115 games scoring 41
goals and 47 assists for 88 points with 200 penalty minutes.
In four seasons (2002-06) at Yale, Zappala played in 124 contests, scoring 39 goals and assisting of 44 tallies. He compiled 152 penalty minutes.
