
Zappala is Fans' Choice

Second-year winger Joe Zappala, who played at Yale, was a
big winner Monday night as the Reading Royals held their seventh
annual Fans Choice Awards banquet at the Sovereign Performing Arts
Center.
Zappala received the Fans Choice and the Heart awards, as voted by
the team's fans. The 24-year-old Massachusetts native has 35 points
and 75 penalty minutes in 47 games for Reading this season.
Other awards winners included: center Brock Hooton (Most Valuable Player); winger Dany Roussin (Offensive Player of the Year); defensemen Shawn Germain and Rob LaLonde (Defensive Player of the Year); goalie Jon Quick (Rookie of the Year); winger Ned Lukacevic (Unsung Hero Award); defenseman Mike Salekin (Scrapper of the Year); center Charlie Kronschnabel (Ironman Award); goalie Terry Denike (Community Service Award); and defenseman Steven Later (Top Hat and Tails Award).
