Key Statistics: Jooris was one of Union’s leading freshman scorers in the 2010-11 season with 32 points on nine goals and 23 assists. Half of his goals came on the power-play, where he was immediately involved with one of the nation’s top man-advantage units.

His Impact: Jooris, along with Jeremy Welsh and Daniel Carr, formed one of the best lines in ECAC Hockey last season. He excels in the playmaking role alongside two proven goal-scorers and all three return for the Dutchmen this year. While they haven’t set any numeric goals in terms of point totals or offensive production, they know they’ll be counted on to help Union continue its recent run of success.

The Bigger Picture: Union played in the NCAA Tournament for the first time as a Division I program last spring. Even though the Dutchmen fell in the first round, against eventual national champion Minnesota Duluth, the entire postseason was a learning experience. After a stellar regular season, Union fell short of making the ECAC Hockey championship weekend in Atlantic City. Those late defeats will be a motivating factor for Union this time around.
