Walters Becomes a Blue Fox

The Herning Blue Fox (Denmark) announced Thursday the signing for former Union standout Jason Walters.

A native of Renfrew, Ontario, Walters spent the 2010-11 campaign with Västerås in HockeyAllsvenskan (Sweden). In 52 regular-season games, he scored 16 goals and added 11 assists for 27 points. Walters contributed one assist in six postseason contests.

In 2009-10, Walters helped lead the Dutchmen to a third-place finish, their highest ever in ECAC Hockey. They also reached the ECAC Hockey championship game for the first time. It was his assist on Adam Presizniuk’s goal midway through the third period of their semifinal game against St. Lawrence that snapped a 1-1 tie and gave Union a 3-1 win.

Walters finished as the Dutchmen's all-time Division I leading scorer with 115 points on 42 goals and 73 assists. He was the team’s second-leading scorer with 16 goals and 24 assists. He led the Dutchmen with four game-winning goals, and second in power-play goals with six.
