Reading Signs Mayotte

READING, PA – The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has signed former Union goaltender Kris Mayotte to an ECHL contract.

Last season, Mayotte (6’1/193) (27), a fifth year pro who hails from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, compiled a 10-16-5 record with a 3.86 goals against average and an .892 save percentage in thirty-three games with the Johnstown Chiefs. He also played in one game last year with the Adirondack Phantoms of the AHL.

Mayotte, who was selected to represent the Johnstown Chiefs as a starter in the ECHL All-Star Game held at the Sovereign Center in Reading in January of 2009, has played a total of 109 regular season ECHL games with the San Diego Gulls, Fresno Falcons and the Johnstown Chiefs.

Mayotte, who attended Royals’ training camp prior to the start of the 2007-08 ECHL season, has actually played against the Royals 10 times as member of the Chiefs and compiled a record of 8-2-0-0 with a 2.87 goals against average and .932 save percentage in those games.

Prior to turning pro, Mayotte put together a stellar four-year career at Union College, where he established a number of school records, including wins in a single season (16) during his senior year with the Dutchmen.
