Delforte Remains in Arizona
PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - Arizona Sundogs Head Coach and General Manager Marco Pietroniro announced today the team has re-signed former Union forward Torren Delforte for the upcoming 2010-11 Central Hockey League season.
Delforte, 24, returns for a second season with the Sundogs after registering 41 points (18g/23a) and 14 PIM in 51 regular season contests last season. "Torren has the ability to find the back of the net and is very skilled possessing the puck in the corners," stated Pietroniro. "We're pleased to have him back for a second season and will look to him to continue to produce offensively." The Shortsville, New York, native spent his rookie season with the former New Mexico Scorpions franchise in 2008-09 where averaged nearly a point per game with 23 goals and 33 assists in 63 contests. His 56 points ranked fourth-best among first-year players and he was named a finalist for CHL Rookie of the Year.
Prior to his rookie campaign, Delforte skated for four years at Union College (NCAA) in Schenectady, New York. The 5-foot-11, 175 pound centerman was a teammate of current Sundogs forward Jason Visser during the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons. In 130 collegiate games, Delforte registered 19 goals, 22 assists and 123 PIM.
