Valery-Trabucco Bound for Finland
Former Union standout Mario Valery-Trabucco, who helped guide the Dutchmen to the 2010 ECAC Championship game, will continue his professional career in Finland as he signed a contract with TPS for the 2010-11 season, the team announced. Valery-Trabucco began his professional career immediately after the conclusion of his collegiate career, signing with the Adirondack Phantoms, the American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers.
"(Mario) has a good university career behind him, and a huge potential to develop during the season," said TPS player coordinator Air Mountain. "He also has the skill to play in the NHL one day."
The Montreal, Quebec native set a school record with 45 points
and 23 goals in 2009-10. His 59 career goals ranks first all-time
on Union's Division I list and his 114 points are tied for second
all-time.
Trabucco, who finished first in the Hobey Baker fan voting with
more than 20,000 votes, was a three time ECAC Hockey Player of the
Week and the InsideCollegeHockey.com's National Player of the Week
on Feb. 9. Trabucco was a Second Team All-ECAC Hockey
selection.
