Hutchins Remains with Edinburgh

The following article featuring former Union standout Jeff Hutchins appeared May 24 on the Edinburgh Capitals Web site.

Jeff Hutchins is delighted to have agreed a return to the Edinburgh Capitals for the 10/11 season in the Elite Ice Hockey League. As soon as the 09/10 season ended Hutchins approached the Capitals to get a new deal in place as they were his number one choice.

Hutchins spent last season with the Capitals and was a fans favourite. For the 09/10 season he was ranked third for the Capitals with 63 points (through 23 goals and 40 assists) over 50 games. He also led the team in penalty minutes with 188 to his name.

Hutchins commented, "I am really pleased that I will be playing in an Edinburgh Capitals uniform again next year. There was never any doubt in my mind that Edinburgh was where I wanted to be for 2010/11 season. The city, fans and the club have made me feel welcome. I live here in Edinburgh and plan on making this my home for some time to come.

"Last year was a special season, as a group we went on to accomplish new highs in franchise history. I know we have lost a coach and some key players, however I am confident in the organisation's ability to find suitable replacements. Here is hoping that we can go on and continue to set new highs. I am looking forward to the upcoming season and can not wait till the puck drops in the fall."

A Capitals spokesman said, "Getting Jeff on board is a fantastic coup for us. We know that the fans have been worried about the lack of signing activity so hopefully this will help to restore some faith that we are actively talking to players. The quest for a player/coach is also continuing and we have started talking to some potential candidates."
