Cook Finds Home in Germany

Former Union standout Matt Cook has signed a contract with EC Hannover Braves (Germany) for the 2010-11 season, the team announced. Cook agreed to terms after appearing three games with the Braves as part of a try-out agreement.

A native of Belle Mead, NJ, Cook spent the 2009-10 season with Quad City of the International Hockey League (IHL), and Bossier-Shreveport and Texas of the Central Hockey League (CHL). He competed in 53 games, scoring five goals and adding 10 assists.

Cook, who served as a co-captain of the Dutchmen for his final two collegiate seasons, was originally signed by the Idaho Steelheads late in the 2008-2009 season. He joined Idaho for nine games down the stretch of the regular season. Cook netted his first professional goal for the Steelheads against Phoenix on March 31.

In four years at Union, Cook scored 34 goals.
