Koenig Moves on, but Remains a Dragon
Former Union standout Trevor Koenig has inked a contract to play in Norway. The 1997 ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Year and a member of the League’s All-Decade team for the 1990s, will play for the Storhamar Dragons in 2010-11, the team announced Tuesday. Koenig spent the 2009-10 campaign with the Dragons de Rouen (France).
A native of Edmonton, Alberta, Koenig appeared in 36 games with the Rødovre Mighty Bulls (Denmark) in 2008-09, posting a 1.97 goals-against average and a .928 save percentage. Prior to joining the Mighty Bulls, Koenig spent three seasons in the Elite Ice Hockey League--two with Coventry and one with Newcastle.
Koenig spent four seasons with the Dutchmen (1994-98), boasting a career-best marks in 1996-97: a record of 15-11-2, 2.03 goals-against average and four shutouts. He appeared in 91 career games with Union.
